She was born on October 14, 1967 in Kazan.
In 1983 she graduated from Yoshkar-Ola city's children's art school and enrolled in the Gzhel ceramics College at the "Art Pottery" faculty. Her teachers were young, energetic and experienced artists of "Gzhel": Moskovskaya Galina, Sergey V. Oleynikov, Tsaregorodtsev Alexander V., Astrohantseva Tatiana.
Her diploma, "A set of lighting for the hotel room: chandeliers, sconces, candelabra," was created at the porcelain factory in the Dmitrovsky Verbilki.
After graduation in 1988 she returned to Yoshkar-Ola and began working as a lecturer in the School of Arts and artistic workshops of the Art Fund of Russia.
In 1989-1993 she studied at the Pedagogical Institute, Cheboksary Yakovlev, Department of "art." Hre degree work after graduation: "Manuals of applied art for painting porcelain in the technique of painting with cobalt." Porcelain vase was made in the tradition of folk art gzhel.
Irina holds a variety of professional techniques, methods and materials in the decoration of ceramic products. Currently Irina Agafonov is a teacher of sculpture in Yoshkar-Ola School of Art and is great in the art of silk painting in "Cold batik" tecnique, performs decorative panels, is fond of interior decoration, and also works on personal orders, collaborates with galleries in Yoshkar-Ola, Kazan, Moscow and other cities.
Her works are in private collections in Russia, France, Japan, USA, Greece, Australia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Italy and the United Arab Imiratov.
